About

I have always believed in magic. As a young child I knew my stuffed animals were alive and spoke when the adults weren’t looking. When I walked through the woods with two long sticks at my sides I became a Land Strider. My friends and I could shape shift into lions, into horses, dragons, unicorns, and any other being we could imagine. Of course, as I grew older this belief evolved into an understanding that the real magic in the world is was the way flowers bloom perfectly timed for spring, the way nature always knows exactly how to heal herself – if we get out of her way, and the way that scribbly lines on a screen have the power to convey ideas. Through the magic of words I could share the pictures, the characters, the magic, the stories that existed in my head with one or two or even thousands of other people.

As more time passed I became increasingly aware of just how much the mystery and the magic of the Earth was changing, how her resiliency was fading, and how one smart (but not very wise) species was responsible for all of it. I dove deep into the science and came out reeling, devastated, and lost. As a child, it had never occurred to me that magic could be killed. As an adult, that reality consumes me. This website is my journey through finding a better way to live, a way that is better for the human and non human citizens of this planet.

Pulp is for Trees

“Look closely at the present you are constructing. It should look like the future you are dreaming.”

~Alice Walker

I dream a future filled with the whisper of trees and the burble of jubilant water, where green meets my eye more often than gray and the air dances with the music of wild things. To help build that future you will find that I do not sell paper books – I prefer trees.
